A vase doesn’t have to hold flowers to be considered a vase anymore! It can hold whatever you want it to hold! This vase was hand thrown on a potters wheel, dried a bit over night, a dark teal slip was applied to the top 2/3 of the vase, a layer of wax came next, than I carved a design of flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. The piece was dried over night and yellow clay slip was bushed on and then when that was dried the yellow clay slip was sponged off and it stayed in the carved lines! Ahh that’s how one does Mishima technique! It has a clear glaze on it! And the vase is done.
